Comprehensive Applescript Reference Book (Re: Applescript equivalent of $0 in shell script)

Thanks to all of you who replied to me.

The command
path to me
or
name of current application
should be the Applescript equivalent of $0.
But neither of them works in iTunes scripts menu.

tell application "System Events"

end tell

This script cannot be saved due to syntax error in the second line.

By the way, what is the most comprehensive reference book for Applescript with many examples indexed by their functions?
I've written hundreds of lines of Applescript for MS Word and iTunes and got tired of finding rather ad hoc mantras to implement what I want to do.
Currently I have an introductory book and PDF documents from Apple.

Thanks in advance.
