It did make a reply window but then beach ball of death appeared...

Martin,
I do not know if the two events are really the same. But it is certainly something in the right direction.
I do not know what «class bcke» is, but if I try to paste the previous picture into this Mail message this is what I get:
«class id 2 of application "Mail"
See that something is missing. I believe those are "weird characters". I could not paste it into anything!

Another interesting stuff is that my, may be buggy Mail, is the one displaying the right behaviour!
I have no problem with that ... :)
