Have you looked at the "Display Dialog" sample in
Developer/Examples/Applescript Studio?
Which also partly answers your earlier question - working through these
examples is an excellent learning technique. I would add a book on
learning cocoa - one of the O'Reilly ones. The examples will all be in
C, but your existing knowledge of AS should be sufficient.
