How do you center a window along the horizontal axis?

Dear List,

This seems like this should be rather simple. Even Apple's docs (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/AppleScript/Reference/StudioReference/sr3_app_suite/chapter_3_section_21.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20011217/ASKApplicationSuite.Commands.Center) give you the code. But, if I use

<x-tad-bigger>on clicked theObject
tell window of theObject to center
end clicked

</x-tad-bigger>on a button, or

tell window "main" to center

on an awake from nib, the window only centers on the vertical axis of the screen. I would like the window to truly center on all screen sizes along both the horizontal and vertical axis. Is there a trick that I am missing or is this just a known bug?
