I understand what you mean. No, AppleScript doesn't do badging on its
own.
Like most advanced stuff, you'll need to use Objective-C and "call
method"
from AppleScript. Here's the link you need:

No, I expressed myself wrong?
I meant this: when you look at the icon of Mail.app you see a stamp.
But when you receive e.g. 5 new mails the icon gets a red star with a
"5" in
it (this must be a lay-over or so)?
And my question was: can you do that with AppleScript? Or do you just
have
to make all seperate icons?
Thanks for you help,
Jasper.

I don't know the way to compose icon and the other images without
other
applications such as Imagine Photo, Photoshop, Graphic Converter and
so on.
But I know the easiest way. You'd better to make images of every
patterns.
Normal Icon
Icon + Plus sign
Icon + Minus sign
Icon + Mult sign
Icon + Div sign
Make 5 pattern's image and include them.

Thank you, that really did the job!
Only a new question arises now:
Is it possible to work with "lay-over" icons (like the mail count in
the
Mail
icon)?

Jasper.

Hi List,
I'm working on a ASS calculation app for children where the user
gets
simple mathematical problems (+,-,*,/).
The user can also decide which operator(s) he/she wants to
practice via
4 checkboxes.
My app icon consists of a "+", a "-", a "x" and a "รท" and they are
all
black. However, I'd like to make the icon correspond with the user
input, e.g. when the user only checks the "+" checkbox, then I'd
like
to make the "+" in the icon red instead of black.
I've found some documentation from Apple (
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Carbon/Reference/
Dock_Manager/
dockmngr_refchap/chapter_1.2_section_4.html ), but, since I'm just
an
ASS newbie and not familiar with Cocoa, this information doesn't
make
much sense to me.
Is there any other solution (a shell script or so) via AppleScript
or
can anybody provide me more information how to do this the Cocoa
way.
Regards,
Jasper.
