There's two things that I can see...the top posting, wherein you reply to a
message on top of the message you're replying too. That can be annoying, and
like many things is a bit of a religious war.

When you're quoting a message, rather than quoting everything, including the
footers that the  list adds at the bottom, just quote the portions of the
message you're replying to. That helps keep the content more relevant, and
easier to deal with
