Since you are posting to the 'applescript-users' list, and you 'want' to save individual receipts, etc. - then you 'want' to view the 'Standard Additions' Library, of 'Script Editor'; and, utilize its respective 'open for access', 'read', 'write', 'get eof', 'set eof', and 'close access' handlers (functions).
