Re: Internet Connect

I would recommend connecting directly to the router with an erhernet
cable, Wi-Fi is really not ideal for servers.

Two reasons the Wi-Fi may be dropping out:

1) Interference from microwave ovens, cordless phones or the
neighbor's Wi-Fi routers. This happens because the Wi-Fi band was
basically a junk band, which is why consumers eded up with it. Proving
the FCC is a corporate toady.
This problem may be solved by changing channels, station density
settings or "Inteference robustness".

2) FM multipathing AKA "ghosting" (remember that from the broadcast TV
era?). This occurs when signals reflect off of smooth surfaces and
arrive at the receiver out of phase. It may especially occur in the
evening, when there is a low overcast or rainy weather.
Solutions can include changing channels, repositioning receiver and/or
sender devices or eliminating reflective surfaces in the area of the
base station. In any case, simply rotating the base station can give
you a better signal since the Wi-Fi is polarized.

I would also recommend running MacStumbler on the Mini to evaluate the
neighborhood Wi-Fi situation:

if you still want a script to join a lost network, look on this page:
