Not in general particularly useful AFAIK. I have some vague idea
that the modern big powerful file systems (NTFS for XP, Mac OS
Extended Journaled for Mac) don't offer particular benefits for
small drives as opposed to large modern hard drives, and you then
lose the particular benefits of being able to use them
cross-platform (in an Internet cafe, at a friend's house, at work),
which is the most distinct benefit of using FAT32 on small drives.
Since I'm using my flash drive cross-platform (generally to move
files for backup to the system with the DVD burner, which runs XP),
I would get no benefit from this.
OTOH, for somebody who's particularly worried about security, adding
a non-standard OS to their backup drive might actually be a plus
point, although they'd be more likely to think about encryption.
