Re: FM 8 layout references w/applescript - works in one file, fails in five other identical files!

When calling for a layout from an external script. I often set the front most layout name to a variable ie. set variable $$Frontmost to get(CurrentLayoutName) at the start of the script to ensure that the script can always find the layout. Later, when you wish to find the layout again, you call the variable for the layout name instead of the layout name directly.
On opening your script you say go to layout "TheOneYouWant" and set the variable to this layout.

This is probably what you may need to do to successfully find the right layout in your script. It is very hard to know what faults your file may have without seeing them, however.
If you have Filemaker Advanced, you will have the ability to create a Database design report of your file in HTML of XML. Viewing this could help me spot the fault if you would like to send a copy of that.
