Re: Apple User Groups and Apple Stores

I recently started the Seattle Xcoders
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xcoder>

We meet twice a month at the Seattle University Village Store.

The manager is helpful and encouraging, and is looking to support groups like ours to use his facilities. We are listed on their calendar and a couple of people have been referred through the store.

The facilities themselves can be challenging, the design of the theater is poor, it seems that every noise in the store is echoed in the theater. Do get someone to show you how to control the sound system and remember to turn off the background music at the start of your music.

As our group is highly technical we find it is more a case of our group occasionally answering the questions of their high tech shoppers. If you want presentations from the employees I would develop relationships with them first and learn who to ask. Only a few are good at presenting before a group, and even fewer are solidly grounded in their subject(s).

As to discounts, remember you are talking about the second Jobs dynasty, the days of fresh sushi and good beer are long over... { : - ) > }

I am curious :)
Do we have any idea of how many User Groups have been able to
establish special rapport with their local Apple Store?
IF so , how is the relationship assisting the MUG?
  Can the MUG use Apple Store premises for meetings or programs?
Are Apple Store staff available to "do" programs for the MUG?
Any special discounts for the MUG members?

This came up on the list a year ago or longer. AM curious about the
current state of Apple Store and Apple User Group relationships.

Thanks
