Re: TXN object and the URL Attribut (kTXNURLAttribute) under Leopard 10.5.2

Hi  james,

This a recognized bug. See below the suite  of mail with Eric.

Today (may 22 , 2008) , it is still in the "open" state
I have not been able to know if it has been fixed in 10..3 beta...

Sincerely

Salut Eric,

After some more investigation, I have updated the radar entry ID: 5814911 about TXN crahes, with new crahs log and suputations. See below.
We use a feature which permitted to describe private ATSUAttribut tags for special text purposes.
I hope that this possibility has not been withdrawn inLeopard...

And , yes i confirm that the problem occurs only when the data contains  ATSU text with URL property.
Removing the text runs where kTXNURLAttribute  appears make the crashes disappear..

Thanks. I believe the problem has been identified - it's an uninitialized field in the TXNObject. Using the URL attribute just happens to trigger the problem. Hopefully we can fix this in a future software update (it won't be fixed in 10.5.3, however).

Thanks eric !

May I say that we are very much disappointed by yout last sentence !...(it won't be fixed in 10.5.3, however)
Why such a big bug cannot be fixed in the next release...?  I know you are not  responsible for this, ;-)
But, as a professional developer, I am shocked...
All the text features in our product should be disabled, waiting for 10.5.4 ???    Impossible ! the Notebook system in at the heart of  3D Turbo model documentation.
It is an essential functionality.
You know what ? We must tell our customers not use leopard until 10.5.4., and explain them why........  Is this really serious ?

Sincerely

JPH

I will ask and see if there's any chance that we could add this fix to 10.5.3. Probably not, but I'll try. I'm curious, though - this bug shipped in Leopard GM. Did you not test your product against Leopard before Leopard shipped?
