Re: Carbon iPhone Programming

By your own admission you don't know the Carbon frameworks but more importantly, don't know the essence of Carbon, Therefore your can't offer a meaningful comparison between Carbon and Cocoa. I don't want to make you look like an ass. What I'd like you to realize is that Carbon is the deft intersection of "classic" Mac and Cocoa and in the process of the merge, manages to trim a lot of the warts out of both while preserving many valuable characteristics.

Can't you guys just get along and stop this Carbon vs. Cocoa schtick? I've been doing Carbon (and Classic before that) about for as long as I can think, and I could probably beat a bunch of people here in obscure Carbon trivia. I'm bummed that Carbon is going away, too, but considering how Apple is killing off Carbon, I think a Cocoa solution is a valid one these days, even on this list.

Even Larry, who's probably one of the few people who actually have a darned good reason not to rewrite their app in Cocoa, has accepted that, and is telling newbies they might be better off learning other systems.

Moreover, the OP mentioned a reason why he thought he couldn't use Cocoa, and Mike merely corrected that assertion. It's really no use to tell him he was following a pattern and applying a "tactic", not to mention rude.

C'mon guys, let's all group hug and get back to the thing that is actually important: Making sure our apps are the best out there and work.

Cheers,
