Do you mean, on a stock 10.5.x, you do:

1) launch Xcode
2) new carbon C++ application
3) build
-> it fails?

If so, what does it fail with?

More details are needed.  I'm not on a stock 10.5 right now, so can't test.
You could write up a bug of course, too.
