OK, first, there is no system icon tray on the Mac. Unless you're
thinking about the icons that show up on the right hand side of the
menu bar. (And I have no idea how to do that).
You might want to tell us what you're trying to accomplish. Perhaps I'm
assuming too much (hi Larry!) but it sounds like you're trying to port
a PC product. Have you done much Mac work at all? You say you're new to
Mac OS X. Are you new the Mac in general, or just Mac OS X?
There is a wealth of information available at Apple's website. A ton of
documentation, and much sample code. If you let us know what you're
trying to do, we could probably point you in the right direction.
