ResEdit (StandardGetFile) can create ".Trash" file.

I haven't loaded classic in well over a year, so I didn't think to try it. But since Mac OS 9 didn't care about the leading dot, I can't imagine any reason for standard get file (or nav services in classic) to either.

So can FSpCreate, FSCreateFileUnicode etc.

Not surprising at all, but I was looking for the user interface that would allow such a file to be created (as that was the question of the OP). Obviously something has to create the file that caused the issue...

Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
