But I want to display a rectangle outside of the bounds of my
application window when the user generates a drag that leaves the
confines of my application.
The Drag Manager already defines ways for you to generate the drag
image or drag region. Why not use them? If you *really* need to draw
non-standard drag proxies, create an overlay window the size of the
screen[s] and draw to that.
