For keyboard events, the standard window handler doesn't actually

Is it legal to install into a window handler key event handlers and then
pass them from the app handler to the frontwindow() handler?

What would be an appropiate call to determine the handler *from* the
frontwindow() window ?

I'm not really sure what you're proposing here. It's certainly legal to install key event handlers on a window.
