open() BSD call fails on Mac OS Tiger??

I had developed an application on Mac Os 10.3.3. I am using fileDescriptor = open ( "/dev/rdisk0", O_RDONLY ); BSD Calls to open the hard disk for raw reading and now I am testing same application on Mac OS Tiger then I am unable to open the hard disk. What should I have to do to solve this problem. Thanks and Regards
