Re: open() BSD call fails on Mac OS Tiger??



FWIW, as an admininstrator:

$  cd /dev
$  cat disk0
$  cat: disk0: Permission denied

$ sudo cat disk0
password:

{Tons of crap, maybe trying to cat my main hard drive was a mistake ;-)}

I'm running Tiger, so it seems (empirically) that one needs to be root
to even perform a read on the device (same for rdisk0).  I can't
remember what it was like under Panther...
