Thread safety does seem to come up again and again - Chris' summary
looked like a good starting point to me, so I've added a page to the
CarbonDev wiki:

Anyone should feel free to amend/augment it as necessary. Or start a new
page for FSSpecs vs FSRefs, MAX_PATH, how to ask a good question, or any
