ermm.. yeah.  you see, i have code which works, on non-Apple environments, which deals with argv's just fine.  i don't want to have a special case just for Apple, unless i have to .. and i'm only asking this question to find out, absolutely and unequivocably, if i have to throw away argv parsing in Apple land and do something else. which i don't -want- to do, but will, if i have to..


I wasn't referring to a Apple specific environment. The Best Practices books I referred to are usually sold by Windows-biased publications (Microsoft Press for one).  This one file could be used on any environment, which makes it more useful than command-line arguments.

However, after reading your other comments, it appears you have a deep-rooted resistance to adapting, so I won't expend any more energy on this topic :)
