Re: How to use Unicode with Carbon

I see that you solved the problem, but I would be interested in knowing
how.

It seams to be a bug on Free Pascal. I already reported here:

http://www.freepascal.org/mantis/view.php?id=9058

When the text editor sets the BOM (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_Order_Mark ), FPC will wrongly
interpretate my strings for a yet unknown reason.

Luckly TextWrangler has 2 options: Save as UTF-8 and also Save as
UTF-8 without BOM

When I save as UTF-8 without BOM everything works fine and fpc
interpretes my strings correctly.

I don't know why I never saw this bug before while using, for example
gedit and kedit on linux to write utf-8 strings. Either this is a
macintosh specific bug, or those editors don't write the BOM.

Another possible reason is that I am using a beta compiler on Intel
Macintosh (the stable release is about 2 months away), while I use
stable compilers on other operating systems.
