Using DVD as input source to Core Video API

(pardon the cross post. no one is answering me on the cocoa list, and this question applies to carbon developers as well...)

Anyone know how to use a DVD -- being played using the DVDPlayback framework -- as an input source to the Core Video API?

The Core Video documentation doesn't mention DVDs specifically, but it does say the following 2 things:

"you can use any video source that can provide frame buffers"

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/CoreVideo/index.html?http://developer.apple.com/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/CoreVideo/CVProg_Tasks/chapter_3_section_2.html

... and ...

"The video source can be anything that can supply uncompressed video data as OpenGL textures. For example, this source could be QuickTime, OpenGL, or your own proprietary video frame generator."

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/CoreVideo/index.html?http://developer.apple.com/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/CoreVideo/CVProg_Tasks/chapter_3_section_2.html

Thanks.
