I know the Desktop & Screensaver System prefs can do this. How can
I? I have a neat little satellite-tracking app. I'd like for its
animated image to appear as my Finder desktop image.
That's easy to do. You just create a borderless window, the size of
the screen, and set its window level to the desktop's window level
(kCGDesktopWindowLevel). Or rather, set the window level of its
window group.
One missing piece: how to let the Finder behave correctly. It seems
that checking "ignore clicks" in IB does the trick. I was wondering
if there's anything more.
TIA,
