It was absolutely not design to be multi-user friendly.
If the (vast) majority of our machines run single-user is this
relevant?
No modern Macintosh runs single-user. And for good reason.
While there may be a single human using the machine, there are any of
a number of services on the system running as different virtual users
for reasons of security and isolation.
Personally? I have two accounts on my machine. My main account; the
one I live in all the time. It is a non-administrative account.
Then there is an 'admin' account that I use to perform administrative
tasks.
I like knowing that some random bit of software cannot go and destroy
my system without me giving permission.
