If I make a new project and choose, say, Carbon C++ App or Cocoa
App, it gives me a nice little HIFrameWork template to work from. I
usually start hacking these apart, tossing out the HIFrameWork stuff
that isn't relevant to my project, and eventually things start
working, usually by removing ppc from the architecture list.
My question is, why don't these project templates build out of the
box? When the template project opens up, I try to build
immediately, just to get their cute little sample application, which
I admit, is a very nice little basic window and menu app to use as a
template...but it doesn't build. Right off the bat these template
projects don't build, so early in the process I could not have done
anything to cause the problem. Just New Project -> build -> error.
The errors seem to relate to ppc architecture, and I am working on a
10.5 Intel mac. I have this problem with both the Carbon C++ and
Cocoa templates. I realize I'm being vague about the nature of the
errors, but that's because my question isn't "what does this error
mean". My question is "Should I expect the project templates to
build properly the moment they are created?"
Does anyone else have this problem or is my Xcode installation
messed up somehow? Can you build the templates without modification
as soon as they open? If so, are you working on a 10.5 Intel mac?
I suspect this isn't Xcode or Apple's fault, but rather, that my
Xcode installation is a mess, but I have no idea what's wrong, how
it got broken, or how to fix it (aside from trashing my entire
Developer directory and downloading Xcode from scratch).
So, does it work for you?
Thanks.
Cheers!
Could you precise about which Xcode version you're talking about ?
