Hello Folks:
At my University, we have a wireless "cloud" that blankets most of the
campus, using "Cisco 1200 IOS AP" access points.
Short version: I get no signal no matter what settings I try. When I say
"I", I actually mean, "everyone I know with an iBook G4, running OS 10.3.x,
with an Airport Extreme Wireless card".* Today I brought in my new laptop
to see that I'm affected as well.
Throughout my entire troubleshooting process, I get no signal (either in
the Menubar or in Internet Connect), and in Internet Connect it's set by
default to "WEP Password"- our Wifi network is *not* WEP-enabled. I know
there *is* a strong signal, because my laptop running 10.1.5 is sitting
right next to it... My co-worker (who works in the basement) running 10.2.
x on an iBook also receives strong signal.
Our Help Desk is not very helpful when it comes to MacOS. Not to say they
didn't try (I made them!)- but they are apparently stumped by anything that
doesn't need a Security Update every 23 days. I can't seem to phrase my
query right for Apple KB.
NOTE: This (iBook G4) laptop connects flawlessly to my network at home
(Belkin Router) and at my friend's house (Linksys Router).
I have a detailed breakdown of my troubleshooting process if this helps.
That's the short version. Thanks for any assistance.
*I know this happens on everyone's iBook_G4/AirportExtreme, because the
Help Desk always sends them to me!
