Re: iBook G4 can't connect to Cisco Wifi...

Sherwin,
This may sound stupid but when I am setting up new networks I notice that after I wirelessly configure an airport and change the network name when it reboots most times I see no signal in the menubar. Even if the network is named one of my "known" networks (I notice if you run through a lot of networks that pref gets confused a lot re-asking me to recognize networks I use all the time). If you look under the icon the other network is there just not selected and it won't show the signal unless selected. That's all that I can think of.
Good luck,

Hello Folks:
At my University, we have a wireless "cloud" that blankets most of the campus, using "Cisco 1200 IOS AP" access points.

Short version: I get no signal no matter what settings I try. When I say "I", I actually mean, "everyone I know with an iBook G4, running OS 10.3.x,
with an Airport Extreme Wireless card".* Today I brought in my new laptop to see that I'm affected as well.

Throughout my entire troubleshooting process, I get no signal (either in the Menubar or in Internet Connect), and in Internet Connect it's set by default to "WEP Password"- our Wifi network is *not* WEP-enabled. I know there *is* a strong signal, because my laptop running 10.1.5 is sitting right next to it... My co-worker (who works in the basement) running 10.2.
x on an iBook also receives strong signal.

Our Help Desk is not very hd¨îelpful when it comes to MacOS. Not to say they didn't try (I made them!)- but they are apparently stumped by anything that doesn't need a Security Update every 23 days. I can't seem to phrase my query right for Apple KB.

NOTE: This (iBook G4) laptop connects flawlessly to my network at home (Belkin Router) and at my friend's house (Linksys Router).

I have a detailed breakdown of my troubleshooting process if this helps.

That's the short version. Thanks for any assistance.

*I know this happens on everyone's iBook_G4/AirportExtreme, because the Help Desk always sends them to me!
