I recently upgraded my Microsoft Office app for the computers in my
lab (OSX 10.3.7)
The first time students logged in and started Word, it took a very
long time as it was creating preferences in their home directories
and loading fonts and such. I figured this would be a first time deal
and wasn't too concerned.
But now when students open Word, although the process of writing
fonts etc to the home directory doesn't occur, the Word screen takes
a very long time to "go away" and so students are often waiting up to
a minute or more for the program to open up completely.
Before I create the disk image I always open the programs up and make
sure all is well. But it is the fact that it is "talking" to the home
directories that is slowing this down (I think) because if I log in
locally as an admin and open word there is no lag time.
Any suggestions? Thanks
Tracy
