The fix Neal mentioned was what I have had to do as well. There is a
long thread on this problem in the Apple discussion forums. This is a
very annoying bug that I hope is fixed in the next rev of workgroup
manager.

In WGM, use the 'inspector' pane to access the computer list in
question.... and delete it from there.
I have had this happen as well... and this worked every time for me.
