I have to say that I'm not sure where a figure of anything like 500Mb
comes from.. 80Mb is more like it where I have seen this issue
discussed before as well as in my own experience... just checked
again.
I have adopted the method of moving all the fonts installed in the
user's directory to/Library/Fonts, but didn't bother changing
permissions and yet it still seems to solve the problem. They are set
on install to 554 in the current single user space on my machine. I
don't see why any change is necessary since fonts don't get written
to.
Also - I didn't know about the DoFonts file you mention, let alone
delete it.
You can also (as I did) delete all the fonts from the 'Fonts' folder in
the office folder. It achieves the same result (and frees up 80Mb of
space on the client).
