A little bit of magic here, but not what you are looking for:

Here is a snippet from the scripts that I use with dscl...

echo "Setting Authentication lookupd priority..."
dscl /Search -create / SearchPolicy CSPSearchPath
dscl /Search -append / CSPSearchPath "/Active Directory/All Domains"
dscl /Search -delete / CSPSearchPath /LDAPv3/$OD_MASTER
dscl /Search -append / CSPSearchPath /LDAPv3/$OD_MASTER

echo "Setting Contacts lookupd priority..."
dscl /Search/Contacts -create / SearchPolicy CSPSearchPath
dscl /Search/Contacts -append / CSPSearchPath "/Active Directory/All Domains"

I am having trouble remembering the command to switch the directory services order in the authentication tab. I need to have active directory listed first. I remember there used to be a command I could run that would like the one I want first. Anyone remember? oh yeah, OSX 10.4.8
