Current scenerio: We are a small school with only one tech person- me.
We have no server room in our current building- I have 4 servers (WGM,
First Class/Retrospect, Filemaker/NUD Calendar, Web) that all sit behind
my desk so that when I want to work on one I can just turn around, use my
monoswitch and access the server(s), all G3s and G4 towers. Well that is
about to change. We are building and will be moving into a new campus
this summer. We will have a dedicated server room that of course I will
have access to, but my desk/office will be in a different part of the new
and much bigger building.
My question is this: what is the simplest way to remotely connect to my
servers. I know and do connect via WGM remotely, but there are definitely
times I need to drag and drop a file into a teachers folder on the OSX
(10.3) server. I probably end up doing this several times a week and
don't have access to do this when logged in remotely under the admin
account on the server. Also, I like to check that Retrospect backed up
properly- it's on a different server. Are people using ARD to connect to
servers and have full access? I do have that and use it in my labs. Is
there some other way I'm missing or just haven't needed to learn that is
simple?
Thanks.
:) Laurie
