MS Word 2004 and wireless ibooks

About a year ago I was having issues with my wireless ibooks (20 on a cart)
after I upgraded MS Word to 2004 from 2001 -- all of them would just hang
and not be able to get to Word or Powerpoint for 5 to 20 minutes -- at that
time, other people on this list indicated similar problems.  I solved my
problem by dumping 2004 and reinstalling 2001 --- does anyone know if
whatever the problem was with 2004 was ever solved?  Is anyone using 2004 on
a group of wireless OSX macs at the same time?
