Re: Managing printers via MCX in Leopard

Someone once said to me that jobs will either go directly to the printer/print-server or travel first to the OS X server sharing the queues depending upon the type of printing protocol. I have never tested this, it could be complete rubbish. Also also this was on Mac OS X 10.3.

Finally if you are in bind setting up your printers, you may want to look at PrinterSetup.


When I push out printers via MCX using IPP, the printers end up being
LPR instead.

My Macs are printing direct to the printers on my LAN via TCP/IP. No
print servers are being used.
All of the printers are on my LAN
All the printers are capable of IPP and IPP is enabled on the printers.
My OD server is 10.5.1
My managed clients are running 10.5.1


Any ideas?
