Does it vary by version of WGM and or Safari?

I'm hamstrung in that we've not migrated to home folders on servers because,
probably, our dns structure was so slow you couldn't rely on a whole lab
logging into a home folder in one shot. So I'm having to tease local
accounts everywhere. ARD's my buddy but there's no swiss army knife manual
to go with the swiss army knife of using defaults write....
