So now another question is : "how to make this new channel a *real* alpha channel recognized by the system?"

You need to perform the following command in the Terminal:

tiffutil -cat YourFile -out YourFile

The best solution being to create a droplet for this: using the DropScript utility available in the Darwin Repository
