Re: [OT]:Question about Installation...

Well fortunately Archive and Install does preserve the /usr/local stuff.

My first attempt to upgrade did not go very well, many hangs and several
hard restarts lead me to try the Archive and Install.

Same problem!

Then I tried logging into my database account and there were no problems!

I examined the system log and found out that the "faxmanager" was crashing.

I logged into my regular account and found that I had a faxmanager startup
item and was able to remove it and log back out before another freeze.

Things seem to be working ok now...I guess I need to spend the rest of the
evening restoring config files ;(

(I did back up /usr/local ahead of time (just in case...) ).

I am ready to install Tiger, I have a large /usr/local tree
does Archive and Install preserve the tree (somewhere) ?

That's a really good question, the answer to which is, "it should."

But I'd make darned sure that tree is backed up first.
