Ideally, reading the docs should happen before posting, which would
help avoid cluttering the list with questions that are simply
answered by pointing you to the relevant documentation.

There may be more beginners like me, so asking simple and easy questions it
is always very helpfull for us. All GUIs APIs tend to be huge, so thats why
some of us prefeer to learn "by example".

That's why Apple has a lot of sample code on developer.apple.com. You should always attempt to find the answer to your question by using web-based resources before turning to mailing lists.
Read the moderator message that is posted periodically under the subject "[Moderator] Cocoa and list resources". It says:

Please bear in mind that there are several thousand subscribers to the Cocoa-dev list, including many Apple engineers. Every post in effect costs the Cocoa community hundreds of dollars to process (and takes time away from the engineers who might be working on the fix to your bug!).

On top of the community costs, lazy questions have a cost for the individual poster, in terms of reputation and of the willingness of others to answer (or even read) further questions from the same source. You should preserve these resources by only asking questions after you have made a reasonable attempt at solving the problem yourself.
