If it's a .icns file, you use a handy utility called "Icon
Composer" that comes with XCode tools. It's in your /Developer/
Applications/Utilities folder.
Of *course* you're asking the author of the application in
question for their permission to legally use their copyrighted
material in your own application like a responsible member of
society ... right? :-)
