why would I get <true></true> in coredata metadata plist?

I'm getting this error when trying to load a core data document:

XML parser error:
	Encountered non-empty <false> tag on line 1
Old-style plist parser error:
Malformed data byte group at line 1; invalid hex

Because the metadata plist has <true></true> in it instead of just <true/>.

Does anyone know what could cause <true></true> to get written out instead of <true/>. I'm using standard

	setMetadata:forPersistentStore:

to add the metadata. And I don't get any save errors, so I think all the plist objects in the metadata are valid. Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Jesse
