Me and a friend have been busy lately, trying to create a basic
screensaver similar to the native ones that Apple provides with OS
X (like "Beach", "Abstract" etc.). Our intention is to achieve the
same visual result, but with the additional ability to specify
specific providers (e.g. getting the images from Flickr, or why not
Google Images)
Why don't you just write a tool that fetches images from one of those
providers, and then puts them in a given directory, deleting old ones
after some time? Then you could use Apple's screensaver, pointing it
to that directory, and that would be it... No need to reinvent the
wheel (unless you're doing that project for pedagogical reasons, of
course).
