Re: Locate path to file's directory

Maybe there is a better way to do this, but the way it worked in the old MacApp version was: the user defined directory with two kinds of files. One project file, which had a list of the 2nd type: "document" files. (The set of document files specified a model for which the app can edit and run a simulation.)
The user can edit the "documentation" files separately and store them in the designated folder. The user can create a project file and add/ subtract the document files from the designated directory. My question was related to setting up this project file.

I have implemented the editing of the path file by hand and it works fine. I just was trying to use existing api instead of creating new ones.

Yes Andy, I think stringByDeletingLastPathComponent will work fine.
Thanks

My program has a file

Confusing. Is this file in the application package, part of a document bundle, or what? I suggest you reply to the list and clarify.
