For a quick test, see if putting in the following in your
cell
subclass makes it work again:

- (NSUInteger)hitTestForEvent:(NSEvent *)event inRect:
(NSRect)cellFrame ofView:(NSView*)controlView
{
	return NSCellHitContentArea | NSCellHitEditableTextArea |

NSCellHitTrackableArea;
}
