Erroneous color transformations with Apple CMM

Hi,

I guess I come across a long-standing, IMHO really serious bug in Apples ColorSync API again.

When you open the image
<http://digitalproof.info/colorsync-users/AppleCMM_bug/CMMtest-source.tif>
in Preview or Quick Look, you see pink clouds.

When you open it in Photoshop and use the default Adobe ACE CMM to display or convert the image e.g. to sRGB, the clouds are gray and stay gray.

When you use the AppleCMM (in Photoshop or anywhere else) to convert or display the image, the clouds turn pink again.

see also the converted results (re. col. w/o BPC to sRGB):

Adobe ACE:

ArgyllCMS:

AppleCMM:

I know that the embedded profile in the source image is fairly off-key and the image is over-exposed, but that's not the point.

see also my old post in the colorsync developer list for more backgroud information.

unfortunately nobody responded to it at that time.

As I think it's really a fatal bug that disqualifies Apples CMM for serious color work, I feel obliged to harp on this issue.

I'll also submit a bug reports to Apple.

Klaus
