the shadow density of the ultrachrome inks is less than stellar, at least with photo black. as an example, With Best ColorProof, using Epson's SemiMatte Proofong stock, or Best's version of the same, i've stuggled to get the shadow dark enough to accurately proof an offset shadow point, let alone the stuff that *i* need to proof. i've heard people claim that matte black is better on certain medias, but i haven't yet seen an ink/media combo that backs up that claim in our shop.
