While third party rips such as Best can get around the issue, if you use the
matte k with the Epson driver and want to print on any Epson glossy media,
the Epson driver rejects the job as invalid data and prints in rough mode or
gives a command error.

I said when printing on the Best proofing paper 9150 I find that I get a better black. Of course there are several good reasons to use Photo Black when printing on a Epson glossy paper.
