Re: Epson 2200 and 4000 Comparison

Hi Richard,

I am not sure if they have changed the trays, but the last one I set up with a CGS RIP the adjustable guide had to be in a standard position ( IE: 11x17, 8.5x11 etc) in order for the paper to feed. This may have been an issue with CGS, but I never got a chance to drive it directly from OSX to find out as the Canon driver was very flaky.

Have you been successful in using a non standard size? Other than that I was very impressed with the Quality and speed and the ability to have two paper trays.

Have a good weekend.

I have both printers and without a doubt the 4000 feeds better. I have
used mine to build media sample books and registration is great on the
1000's of sheets on 40+ stocks that I have run through it... Especially
on the 13x19 and 17x22 sheets. I can honestly attribute the great
registration to the fact that the 4000 has an adjustable paper tray
that helps prevent skewed feeds. This is unlike the Canon 2200 that
only holds certain sizes.

Dear Troy

I hope you don't mind my picking you up on your statement above regarding the Canon 2200. I imagine you are meaning the W2200 proofer model. We have one of these excellent printers and the standard paper tray holds paper up to A3plus, and you can indeed set the adjustable guides to any in between size you want. There are also notches that the guides click into for the recognised paper sizes. I am in the UK so perhaps there is a difference between countries.

Cheers

Richard
