Re: Profile Maker 5

A friend of mine was in the same dilemma :

If they don't use ICC profiles in the Trendsetter Spectrum, the color match
they get is not accurate enough (and this site was the reference printer for
one of the GraCol versions!!).

If they do use profiles, on the other hand, the dots no longer represent the
actual halftones to be printed in the press, and the whole purpose of the
Spectrum falls apart. Besides, the customers begin rejecting the proofs
because "the yellow has small cyan dots" or such arguments.

As a compromise they began using link profiles, built via Art-Link-O-Lator,
with the "preserve pure colors" option. While they lose the accuracy of the
match in the pure colors (and I believe they also use the pure secondaries),
they preserve the match in most other areas and they preserve the gray
balance.

Print buyers should begin forgetting about dots already... unless they give
them trouble, that is.
